Anti-slavery Policy

Modern slavery is a serious issue. Under the Australian Modern Slavery Act 2018, it includes things like human trafficking, slavery, servitude, forced labour, debt bondage, forced marriage and the worst forms of child labour. These are all forms of exploitation that take away a person’s freedom, safety and basic human rights.

Heron Design is not required to report under the Act, but we still hold ourselves to high standards. We believe every person has the right to fair treatment, safe work and dignity. Our values guide how we work, who we partner with and how we support the people who move through our services.

We provide recruitment and consulting services within the technology sector. Because of this, we know we have a responsibility to make sure the people we source, place or work alongside are treated fairly and ethically. We aim to protect human rights at every step of the recruitment and delivery process — from first contact to ongoing engagement.

We do not tolerate any form of slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour or exploitation in our business or in the supply chains we rely on. These practices have no place in our work or in the communities we serve.

To reduce the risks of modern slavery, we commit to:

  • using a risk-based approach to understand where harm could occur, both within our own business and among our suppliers

  • choosing local suppliers wherever possible

  • raising awareness about modern slavery and encouraging open conversations

  • being clear about our expectations with the people and organisations we work with

  • understanding who our suppliers are and how they operate

  • sharing accurate information about our own supply practices

  • taking action where we see opportunities to influence positive change

We know change happens when businesses and communities work together. While we operate on a small scale, we take our role seriously and aim to contribute to a fairer, safer and more ethical industry.
